Tazuru

Tazuru

Welcome to Tazuru

Although Tazuru is located in the middle of the town, you will feel Kyoto tradition and beautiful nature by your side. The ryokan stands quietly between the Kamo River and the Takase River. It only takes you about 10 minutes to get to Shijo/Gion area, so it is very convenient for eating-out and sightseeing. Once you come back to your room, you can see Higashiyama Mountains and hear Kamo Riverfs murmur from the window - They will heal your tired body from a trip.

Bath

The ryokan is proud of their baths with a nice view – You can see Higashiyama Mountains, Mt. Hiei and the Kamo River from the windows. There are two big bathhouses on the 5th floor and the 7th floor – men and ladies take turns using the baths. The smell of wood (the cypress bath on the 5th floor) will make you feel refreshed and relaxed. The ceiling window will be opened on a sunny day in summer, and you can enjoy the open air bath. Please have a good time, looking over the wonderful view.

YUKA (Open-air dining platform for summer)

Yuka is a typical image of summer in Kyoto. The custom has a very long history, and it goes back nearly 500 years old. It is said to have begun when the rich merchants put the platforms on the river and treated their quests from afar. The present form (the platforms are put over the Misogi River) was completed in the early stage of Showa era. You can enjoy both lunch under the beautiful sunshine and dinner feeling the cool evening breeze. It will be an unforgettable memory of your trip!
[The event is on from May 1st to September 30th.]
